Elsie M. Silveira, 94, a lifelong resident of Fresno County, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at home surrounded by those that loved her. She was born to Italian Immigrants Luigi and Posqua Bettinsoli who farmed in the Kerman area where she grew up and was a graduate of Kerman High School. She later married Manuel Silveira of Tranquillity. She and Manuel farmed in Tranquillity where she raised her family before moving to Fresno in 1967. After the untimely death of Manuel in 1973, she continued to assist in the farming operation in Tranquillity with her son Stanley. She was known for her famous Italian Spaghetti Sauce and Portuguese beans. An outgoing and engaging person, she always enjoyed entertaining and decorating for events in her home. Always welcoming with an open door for family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Gabriel and Louie Bettinsoli, Phyllis Schwarz, Gloria Castiglione, and Lucy Coleman, and by her son-in-law Larry Melikian.
Elsie is survived by her children, Joe Silveira and his wife Anne of Redding, Stan Silveira of Tranquillity; Denise Melikian and Carole Silveira both of Fresno. She is the beloved grandmother of Scott Silveira and Chelsie his wife and Lisa Silveira, Bryan Melikian and his wife Malorie, Adam Melikian, Daniel Silveira, and David Silveira. She is the cherished great grandmother of Sophia and Elijah Silveira, Maxton and Blake Melikian.
Private family services with Entombment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery Mausoleum, a Celebration of Elsie’s life will be on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11 AM at Pardini’s in Fresno, those who will be attending are requested to please RSVP to the family at 559-431-2912.
Remembrances in Elsie’s memory may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
