Elpidio Perez Martinez

My father Elpidio Perez Martinez, a 50 years plus resident of Madera, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 29, 2020, surrounded by his wife, children and love ones, he was 84 years old. He was born to Jose Perez and Demesia Martinez in August 28, 1935 in Michoacán, MX, but was raised in Las Canas, Guanajuato.

There, he met my mother Ma. Remedios Perez, the love of his life. Together, they moved to Northern MX and finally to the United States in the 1970’s, than brought their children with them and settled in Madera.

In his earlier years, my father worked as a farm worker in Arizona than as a Foreman in the pistachio ranches in Madera County in his later years. At a very early age, our father was certainly a hard worker and he instilled this in all his children, thus making him a great role model.

After retiring in the late 90’s he enjoy spending time with his grandchildren, whom he helped to babysit and take to doctor appointments. In his leisure time he enjoy playing cards, gardening, talking to his family, watching TV with my mother and an occasional trip to the local casinos.

In addition to his parents, my father was preceded in death by some of his family members in Mexico and his grandson Oscar “Oscarito” Perez.

My father is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Ma. Remedios Perez and his 12 children Amalia Perez, Maria Perez, Asencion “Ace” Perez his wife Sylvia, Tomas Perez his wife Maria, Jose Perez his wife Graciela, Isabel Barreras her husband Alfredo, Ricardo Perez his wife Christina, Ma. Esther Pilloud her husband Tom, Daniel Perez his wife Olga, Lourdes Perez, Angelica Saldana her husband Tony, Monica Perez her husband George and he was also the beloved “abuelo” to 42 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
 
Visitation at Jay Chapel in Madera, CA, Friday February 7, 2020, 10:00 am -12:00 pm, followed by the Rosary & Mass at 1:00 pm at St Joachim Catholic Church in Madera, CA and  the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30pm. 

Interment immediately after mass at Calvary Cemetery 28447 Ave. 14 Madera, CA.
