Dorothy Anne Campbell, long time Madera resident passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2020 following a brief illness. Born in Ontario, California, Dorothy moved to Madera with her family in 1932 where her family operated a dairy farm.
She attended Howard Elementary School and later went on to graduate from Madera Union High School with the Class of 1948. Dorothy earned her Bachelor’s Degree at The University of Southern California (USC) and was awarded her Master’s Degree from the University of California at Berkeley (CAL). For a time Dorothy worked in Washington DC as an interpreter of foreign languages for the CIA before returning to Madera to care for her mother and help run their Madera farm along with her brother Lawrence , all while working for Madera County at the Welfare Department as a Social Worker. A career that spanned 25 years before retiring. In the community Dorothy had attended the former Madera First Presbyterian Church, and was concerned and supportive of care for animals, and was proud of her Scottish heritage.
In addition to her parents Donald Campbell and Minnie Lawrence Campbell, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Campbell in 2008.
Private Services will be held.
