Dixie Virla Rousey Lyons passed away in on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the age of 99. She was born to Lucian and Leona (Overturf) Frachiseur in Grannis, Arkansas on July 11, 1919.
Dixie had been a resident of Madera for 62 years where she had worked as a clerk at Purity Market and a waitress at the Fruit Basket. She was a member of Madera Baptist Church in Madera. She was also a member of the Tomahawk Twirlers Square Dance Club.
Dixie was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Rousey, and her second husband, Jim Lyons, her sons, Elwood Rousey and Don Rousey, her parents, sisters, Susanna, Lola, Nellie, Zella, Oza, Alice, and Peble, her brothers, Wesley (Bud), and Lloyd.
She is survived by sons, Sterlin Rousey and his wife, Retha, of Ardmore, OK, Ron Rousey of Madera, and Gary Rousey and his wife, Gayle, of Fresno. Dixie also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren, fifty-four great-grandchildren; thirty-six great-great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 12:00 P.M. and 1:45 P.M. at Jay Chapel, Madera, CA
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 2:00 P.M.
Interment at Arbor Vitae Cemetery following the Funeral Service
