Mrs Claire Noel O'Neill

Claire N. O’Neill passed away at the age of 90 on Monday, June 4, 2018 in Fresno, CA.  Claire was born in Ross, CA on July 29, 1927 to Nicholas James and Mary Elizabeth Phelan.

Claire was raised in Vallejo and Sacramento.  During WWII her family moved to Fresno where she attended St. John’s High School.  In 1946 she married Michael J. O’Neill.  Mike and Claire lived in Huron until 1963 when the family moved to Fresno.  After raising seven children, Claire enjoyed a career with the Fresno County Health Department. Claire was preceded in death by her husband Michael; sisters June Roche of Norfolk, NE, Eleanor Power Flynn of Vallejo, Jean Ray of Vallejo and Joan LeMasters of Yountville.

Claire was a devoted wife and mother.  She was a gracious woman of great faith who was kind, respectful and generous to all she encountered.  She had an understated sense of humor that was accentuated with quick wit and common sense.

The family would like to thank the Sisters and staff of The Nazareth House who provided Claire with loving care while she was a resident.  

Claire is survived by her sons, Michael and his wife Rosemary O’Neill of Fresno, Kelly and his wife Anastasia O’Neill of Fresno, Daniel and his wife Vinci O’Neill of Leawood, KS, Timothy O’Neill and Anna Marie DiFalco of Fresno; and daughters, Colleen and her husband Michael Driscoll of San Mateo, Kathleen and her husband Joseph Uniacke of San Francisco, Maureen and her husband James Byrne of San Francisco; 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.    

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at, The Shrine of St. Therese, Monday, June 11, 2018, at 7:00 P.M.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Shrine of St Therese on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 10:00 A.M.

Interment will immediately follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Fresno, CA.
