Charlotte Anne Boon Ferretti was born May 16, 1932 in Fresno, California at the old St. Agnes Hospital the daughter of Charles B. Boon and Zelma Maxine Simpson Boon R.N. She passed from this life on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Madera Community Hospital.
Charlotte received her early education in Fresno, attending Kindergarten and first grade in the Bungalow at St. John’s Cathedral and later attended Fresno Schools until the fifth grade. Her sixth grade was at St. Joseph’s Convent in Berkeley, California, her seventh grade was at St. Brendan’s School in Los Angeles, California and her 8th Grade was at Lincoln School in Madera, California. She graduated with the Class of 1950 at Madera Union High School and went on to complete one year at Fresno State College (now CSU Fresno).
Later Charlotte was employed at Pacific Telephone Co., Gottschalks Department Store, and Fresno Dry Goods.
An avid reader all her life, Charlotte had a large library of many books, mostly history, poetry, biography and references on many and varied subjects. Her love of history came from her father.
She was a dedicated genealogist and was always ready to help anyone who was serious about researching their “Family tree”.
Her love of history and genealogy made it possible for her to establish memberships in several hereditary societies and well as others, including am Auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary, a Life Member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, a member of Colonial Dames of XVII Century, member of Society of Daughters of American Colonists, a Charter Member of Yosemite CL., and 52 year member of National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. Member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, a recipient of Jefferson Davis Gold Medal for preservation of History, a Native Daughter of the Golden West, a Charter and a life Member of the Scottish Society of Central, California, a Life Member of the Friends of the Madera County Library. In later years she was a member of St. Columba’s Church Altar Society in Chowchilla.
Charlotte loved gardening and in previous years always had a nice yard and garden.
In her high school years she was active in high school sports. She also showed American Saddlebred gaited horses and in later years enjoyed Arabian horses. She loved the times she went on Trail Rides in the National Parks, especially one vacation in San Francisco Golden Gate Park with the beautiful trails there.
She loved her dogs, cats and horses and usually preferred their company, as they were always honest and true.
Charlotte also worked at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift store in Madera, starting in the 1960’s; she left the store in 2003, due to a back injury.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her father, Lt. Col. Charles B. Boon in 1984, her daughter Maria Deane Ferretti in 1990, her step-father James H. Austin in 1998, and her mother Zelma Maxine Simpson Boon Austin in 2006.
She is survived by two of her three children, a son, a daughter, two grandchildren and an aunt.
Charlotte was very grateful for her true friends who stood by her in the difficult times of her life. God bless them all.

Recitation of the Rosary will be on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Columba Catholic Church in Chowchilla with Celebration of the Funeral Mass following at 10 AM. Services will conclude at the Church.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Madera.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be sent in the form of Mass Offerings.
