Catalina Duran Chavira

Catalina Duran Chavira passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the age of 99. Catalina was a resident of Madera, CA for 82 years; she was born in El Paso, TX on February 13, 1920 to Silvestre and Maria (Candelaria) Duran. Catalina worked for Oberti Olive Company as a Sorter for 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking and caring for them. Catalina liked sewing, gardening, her music and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Joe A. Chavira, her parents, Silvestre Duran and Maria Cecilia Candelaria, her son, Richard Chavira and her son-in-law, Mark Hathorn.

Catalina is survived by her sons, Nestor Chavira and his wife Mary, Joe Chavira, Jr., her daughters, Theresa K. Chavira and Maryellen Hathorn. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on, Monday, March 4, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 P.M., both at Jay Chapel, Madera, CA
