Mrs Carol Ann Gong

March 26, 1955 ~ March 28, 2018 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Tribute

Carol Ann Gong, 63, resident of Madera, CA, passed away surrounded by her family at St. Agnes hospital in Fresno on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

Carol was born on March 26, 1955 in Van Nuys, CA to Mathias and Lois Weiland. She worked at Plusko’s Bakery in Canoga Park throughout her years at St. Genevieve High School in Panorama City. This love of baking continued throughout her lifetime as she found much joy in gifting her creations to her family and friends.

Carol also loved spending time in nature and going camping. In 1976 she met her husband, Tom, at a campground in Sequoia National Park and they were married in 1978. The two of them lived in La Habra and Canoga Park before settling down in Madera, CA where they started their family. Carol’s joy in life was being a wife to Tom and a mother to her two boys, Matthew and Danny. Carol brought great comfort and love to her six brothers, being the middle sibling and regarded as the center of stability. She also treasured spending time with her grandchild, Oliver, whom she loved with all her heart.

Carol had a love of reading and spent some enjoyable years working as a library tech for Lincoln Elementary School in Madera, CA. In her later years she spent time volunteering for Madera’s Relay for Life and she found additional joy in being a mom to her beloved dog, Charlie. Her love of all things Disney and, specifically, the Matterhorn ride in Disneyland, kept her smiling, as did her love for all things Josh Groban. She saw him perform live twice and listened to his music on a regular basis.

Carol always managed to find the positives in life, no matter what came her way. It is her fighting spirit that kept her going and that was so inspirational to all of those who have been touched by Carol in some way.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Tom Gong; her son Matthew Gong and his wife Jeanette; her son Danny Gong and his wife Rocio and grandchild Oliver; six brothers and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nephews. She will be missed by her family and friends more than she could have imagined. She is preceded in death by her twin sister Cathy, her mother Lois and her father, Mathias.
