Bruce Arnold Koch was born on May 4, 1949, and passed away on August 26, 2021 at age 72.
Throughout his life, he valued hard work and enjoyed offering assistance and business advice to anyone he could help.
Bruce was born to Hans Arnold Koch and Phyllis (Cranick) in Fresno, California. He grew up in Fresno and was active in the YMCA, camping, and scuba diving. Bruce attended McLane High School. He was on the wrestling team for one year and the football team for three years, graduating in 1967. Then he attended Fresno State, was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity, and built friendships that would last a lifetime. He graduated Fresno State with a BA in Business and an MA in Business Administration. While in college, he met his future wife Adelaide Dellavalle from Madera and they married in August 1971.
Bruce took a job at the Madera County Schools Office. He enjoyed working on their new mainframe computer in the early 1970's and wrote a computer program for payroll that was used for decades. After twenty years he had risen through the ranks and became the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Administrative Services. He was the youngest person to hold several positions countywide and statewide. Then he became a Certified Financial Planner and took a job at Primerica Financial Services. He became the Regional Leader in his area counseling people about investments, insurance and repairing credit.
After retirement, he continued work in business and education as a Commissioner on Madera Unified’s Personnel Commission and he was a member of the Madera County Grand Jury where he felt he was still making a difference in the community.
Bruce enjoyed living with his wife and four children on their ranch in Madera. His dream was to raise his children in the country so he bought a vineyard and a tractor, moved his family to the "ranch", and started growing organic raisins.
He was a loving husband of 50 years and a wonderful father. His legacy shines bright in all he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, David (and spouse Maryann) Koch, and his sister, Karen (and spouse Dean) MacDonald, his wife, Adelaide Koch, and adult children Marcia (and spouse Jeff) Fulkerson, Christy (and spouse John) Honore`, Hans (and spouse Jennifer Poblete) Koch and Natale Koch.
A celebration of life will be held at Calvary Cemetery in the Outdoor Arbor at 10 am Saturday, October 16.
