May 26, 1937 ~ May 30, 2021 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Tribute

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Bobbie Rae Ylarregui.  Bobbie was born on May 26, 1937, in Coalinga, CA, to Lillian and Ray Taylor.  She died on May 30, 2021, at the age of 84.  She moved to Madera with her family at the age of six when her father was transferred for his employment with PG&E.  She attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Madera High in 1955.  She met Michael Ylarregui in her freshman year; they married in 1958 and were together for 44 years until Mike’s death in 2002.  While newly married, Mike enlisted in the National Guard and Bobbie worked at Whitehead Ford, which was ultimately Dick Anderson Ford.   In the early 1970’s, Bobbie retired to be a full-time homemaker.  Bobbie and Mike enjoyed traveling and entertaining family and friends.  While not having biological children, Mike and Bobbie were “parents” and “grandparents” to many neighborhood children and the children and grandchildren of close friends.  Kids didn’t miss stopping by at Halloween for a picture and special treat.  Bobbie would then send the pictures to the children as a gift.  Bobbie and Mike had a love for animals.  If you were lucky enough to be a pet of Bobbie’s, you hit the pet lottery!  Throughout the years, Bobbie and Mike were kept busy joining friends at the Italo-American Club dances, attending graduations, sporting events, and dinners with family and friends.

After Mike’s death, Bobbie became a hospital volunteer, joined an exercise class and met her dear friend, Lupe Mizel. She also joined TOPS where she met Jan McNaughton, another good friend.  Lupe and Bobbie went on many trips together over the years and truly enjoyed life.  In 2019, Bobbie became a resident of Cedar Creek in an independent living cottage.  She enjoyed the wonderful staff at Cedar Creek, participated in the activities, connected with old friends and met new ones.  While at Cedar Creek, she met Bob Herman who became a dear close friend.  Bob and Bobbie were even named Prince and Princess of the Valentine’s Day dinner at Cedar Creek!

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents Lillian and Ray Taylor, brother-in-law Marshall McKinney and nephew Randall McKinney.  She is survived by her sister Pat Elliott (Jess) and their children Russ and Rhonda; her sister Judy McKinney and her children Raylene, Billy and Lynette; and her brother Gary Taylor.  She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Clarence and Joanne Ylarregui; her nephew David Ylarregui (Tracy), their children Ryan, Matthew and Katie; her nephew Mitchell Ylarregui and his children Hannah and Olivia; and her sister and brother-in-law MaryAnn and Pete Zubiri and their daughters Christina and Txaro.  Bobbie will truly be missed by her family, friends and all the “adopted” families she so dearly  loved.

Visitation will be held at Jay Chapel on Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on June 11, 2021, at St. Joachim Church at 9:00 a.m., with internment and a reception to follow.
