Tribute

Dolores Soriano was born in Hartsville, Missouri on March 31, 1928 and passed away in Madera on March 19, 2020.

Dolores came to California with her family when she was approximately ten (10) years old. They settled in Chowchilla where she attended local schools.

In 1952, she and her first husband, Dale Henderson, moved to Madera where she lived the remainder of her life.

Dolores worked as a carhop at the once infamous Reed & Bell Drive-In that was located on old Highway 99 (now Gateway Drive) from the mid-1950’s to the mid-1960’s. Later she was a waitress at the Yosemite Restaurant during the time down town Madera was the hub of all business and retail activity.

Dolores was an avid bowler for many years and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Soriano; her mother, Nona Smith and father, Charlie Dorris; her brothers, Charles and Donald Dorris; and her beloved son, Millard L. Henderson.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Turk; children, Roger (Stacey) Henderson and Pam (Chris) Pistoresi. Dolores is the cherished “Grama D” to grandchildren Jennifer (Doug) Mayer, Dan (Catherine) Henderson, Joey (Alison) Pistoresi, Keith Pistoresi, Steven Henderson and Ashley (Mike) Cerrillo. Great-grandchildren Penelope, Malcom and Miranda Mayer; John Michael, Joshua and Beth Cerrillo; Vivian Henderson; and Luca and Nico Pistoresi.

Her family wishes to extend their humble gratitude to the caregivers from Home Instead, particularly those who cared for her during her final weeks Warm thanks to Julie Owens, Cassandra Zamora, Deena Khoury, DaRon Talley, Galdina Mendoza and Selena Pultz. Also her Hinds Hospice, RN, Ana, to whom we are abundantly grateful. In addition, we thank her neighbor, Barbara, for the friendship and love she extended to our Mom throughout the years.
