Beverly J. Freitas
1929 – 2020
Beverly passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on May 17, 1929 in Fresno, California and was a lifetime resident. She graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School in 1947.
She married Frank Joseph Freitas on April 18, 1948 at Saint John’s Cathedral in Fresno. Family meant the world to Beverly, and she spent her life caring for, and raising her eight children and grandchildren. Her Catholic faith was equally important, and she was actively involved in regular bible study groups, participated in a three-year interdenominational bible study group in the early 1980’s, and volunteered to support Christian athletes in the Easton area. She used her musical talents as the organist for St. Jude’s Catholic Church for many years.
Beverly was proud of her Portuguese heritage and was a lifetime, active member of the S.P.R.S.I
Women’s organization. She spent countless hours volunteering and supporting, Frank and the kids in annual Portuguese celebrations with C.P.D.E.S and St Anthony. Additionally, Beverly was crowned Festa Queen in 1944, and was honored to be Grand Marshall of the Festa Celebration in 2017.
She is survived by children Michael and wife Gale, Cheryl Placenti and husband Henry, John,
Deborah Kreun and husband Dan, Mark and wife Janine, Pamela, and Paul; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Beverly was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Frank, and her son Jeffrey.
She will be interred at Fresno Memorial Gardens in a private family service. The family plans to provide links to a virtual Rosary and Graveside Service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St Jude Catholic Church, or Hinds Hospice, both in Fresno, California
