Mrs Betty Jean Hurt

September 22, 1936 ~ November 25, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Tribute

Betty Jean Hurt was born on September 22, 1936, in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Cecil and Mary Jane Wade. Betty was raised in Henryetta and was involved in band playing the Clarinet and she was also a Majorette.  Betty performed in many parades and twirled the baton with fire on each end in the Cotton Bowl.  Betty married the love of her life, Clyde, on July 21, 1952. Together they began their life together.  They were blessed with two Sons and one Daughter, Stephen, Julie, and Matthew. Betty and Clyde left Oklahoma in 1969 and moved to Firebaugh where they Pastored until 2014.  Betty worked for Ron and Joy Gowens in Firebaugh and for Buzz and Pat Allen of Firebaugh as a housekeeper.  She loved her job and they both became family to her. Betty loved people and her passion was yard selling and Embroidering. Betty loved to sing and play the drums. She and Clyde recorded five CD's.  Betty loved God with all her heart, her church family, and her special friend Virginia and her precious daughter Kristie and her amazing Nurse, Raymond. Betty loved her children, grandchildren, and great grand children like only a Mother and Grandmother could love.

 Betty was preceded in death by her Husband Clyde, Father, Cecil Wade, Mother, Mary Jane Wade, Nephew, Timmy McCarty, Nephew, Rickey Wade, Niece, Janie Haney, and Brother-in-law, Gene McCarty. Betty is survived by her Sister, Rosalie McCarty, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Brother, Cecil Wade and Sister-in-Law Vivian, of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Brother, Jackie Wade, of Dewey, Oklahoma.

Betty is also survived by her Children, Stephen Hurt and Daughter-in-Law Kellie of Firebaugh, Julie Jo Calvert, Son-in-Law Bob of Chowchilla, and Matthew Hurt of Chowchilla. Betty was also blessed with 12 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild who were her world. Betty leaves behind a great legacy of musicians. Son Stephen(lead guitar), Matthew(Drums),Grandsons Jason(lead guitar), Travis(guitar,drums, and vocalist), Adam(drums, guitar, pedal steel guitar, keyboard, harmonica, and vocalist), Joshua (bass guitar and vocalist). 

Visitation will be Friday November 30th, 2018 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Jay Chapel in Madera. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Jay Chapel. Entombment will be at Chowchilla District Cemetery in Chowchilla, Ca., followed by a luncheon at the Assembly of God located at 4th and Orange St., in Chowchilla, Ca.

Remembrances may be made to American Cancer Society.
