Be the first to offer your condolences on Annie's Tribute Wall
Anita ‘Annie’ Martinez, age 95 passed away peacefully on September 26, 2021. She was born on April 17, 1926 to parents Victor and Placidad Adame in Madera, California. As the oldest of seven siblings, she was hard working and dutiful, helping with the chores on the family farm. It was her responsibility to make sure her younger brothers and sisters were taken care of. She was raised in Madera, but was a resident of Fresno for her adult life. Annie was married to Joe Martinez, and they were blessed with one son, Luis Gerald. As a family, they enjoyed fishing and camping trips to the outdoors in their trailer. Making fun trips to Southern California to visit Disneyland. She counted it as a special treat when she would listen to both father and son, together playing the guitar and singing. Annie enrolled in beauty college to become a beautician, which she did for 15 years. She then worked for the Internal Revenue Service, as a supervisor for 24 years. One of the things that gave her great joy was planting and working in her vegetable and English garden.
She was a devoted wife and cared for husband, when he became ill, being by his side until his death.
She will be remembered as a strong, independent sister, living on her own, not wanting to bother others. A faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church where she would attend Mass services. Daily reading her bible, which gave her the strength to get through life’s challenges. Thankful to the Lord for her blessings and being with her every day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Martinez and her son Luis Gerald Martinez. She is survived by her sisters; Delia Vega (Mt. View), Apolita Amador (Modesto) and Patricia Amador (San Jose) and several nieces and nephews.
