August 7, 1936 ~ May 4, 2022 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Tribute

Angela (Angie) Marie Di Liddo, 85, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2022, with the love of her life and husband of 65 years by her side. Angie was born in Fresno, California on August 7, 1936, to Joseph and Mary Renna and was the oldest of their four children. After graduating from San Joaquin Memorial High School in 1954, Angie enrolled in Fresno City College. Angie met the love of her life, Nick Di Liddo while attending a social at St. Therese in 1957. Nick was hardworking, Catholic, and most importantly, Italian, and he swept her off her feet. Six months later, Nick and Angie were married. They welcomed their daughter Nicolyn in August 1959 and son Frank in August 1961.

Angie loved nothing more than being a mother and a wife. One of her greatest joys in life was preparing a home cooked Italian meal and sitting around the dinner table watching her family enjoy the labor of her love. She was the typical hardworking mom, playing taxi driver to guitar and piano lessons, baseball and football practices. Angie took great pride in her home and worked alongside her husband as the bookkeeper of the family business, Di Liddo Shell, for 38 years.

Both of Angie’s children graduated from Fresno State University, something that made her very proud. Angie and Nick were loyal Fresno State fans attending football, men’s’ and women’s basketball, baseball and softball games and started following the Bulldogs in the 70’s at Ratcliffe Stadium. In 1980 as Bulldog Stadium opened on campus, they bought stadium builder “Red” seats and joined the Bulldog Foundation. Angie’s love for the Bulldogs motivated her to become a fund-drive player. In 1994, she became a Bulldog Foundation Trustee and eventually became the first and only woman to have held the position as President of the Bulldog Foundation. Through her 25 years of fundraising, she was able to provide over 225 student athlete scholarships. In 2008, Angie was the recipient of the Bulldog Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award.

You could always find Angie and Nick tailgating, traveling to watch the Bulldogs or cheering on the Bulldogs in their red seats, side by side, rain or shine, win or lose. If you didn’t find Angie at an FSU event, she was probably riding shotgun in one of Nick’s many Corvettes. They were active members of the Corvettes of Fresno. Many of their rides ended at the local western dance club where they two-stepped the night away. Angie was also an active member of LARCs, served as the president of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Mother’s club, and volunteered for the Clovis Rodeo parade for many years. Angie was active in the Italian Catholic Federation at St Anthony’s of Padua. Angie loved having an active social life but loved the life-long friends she made along the way.

However, the love she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the greatest love of all. She never forgot to send a card. Angie loved sharing her love of FSU with her grandchildren and taught them how to tailgate and sing the fight song. She fed them countless pounds of pasta and smoothies by the pool. Being a grandmother was her greatest joy.

Angie is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Renna, brother Joe, and sister Marlene. She is survived by her husband Nick, daughter Nicolyn and her husband Patrick, son Frank and his wife Teri, brother Victor and his wife Pat, her 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
