Alan Charles Canton, 73, of Fresno, CA, passed away Thursday, August 2nd, 2018, after battling lung cancer. A service will be held to celebrate Alan’s life on Saturday, August 11th, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Stonebridge Clubhouse in Fresno, CA.
Alan was born July 2, 1945, in Teaneck, New Jersey. He graduated from CSU Chico, served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force and completed his MBA from the University of California Los Angeles in 1973. Alan had a successful career in marketing and was known for his award-winning work on the California Dancing Raisins ad campaign. He went on to use his experience to teach marketing at CSU Fresno State in the Craig School of Business, inspiring students and colleagues alike.
He enjoyed work and retired in 2016 to begin custom building a Shelby Cobra car and to spend time with his children and his handsome beloved dog, Josh. Alan was an avid reader, inspiring a love for the written word in his children. He appreciated foods from all corners of the world (especially goat cheese, halvah, and marzipan). In addition to his infectious sense of humor, Alan had an ever-present sense of kindness in his actions and always chose to believe in the inherent good in others.
Alan is survived and missed dearly by his daughter and daughter-in-law Bianca N. Roe and Yumiko Suzuki Canton, sons and son-in-law Michael A. Canton, Noah H. Canton, Peter W. Canton, and Jonathan D. Roe, his siblings Peter J. Canton, Paul Canton, Elizabeth F. Canton, and Katherine Cusick, many nieces and nephews, and his loving dog, Josh.
