Manuel Montoya

Beloved husband, father, tata, and tio, Manuel Montoya, age 89, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 in Madera, CA with his daughter, Rosa Maria, by his side. He was a native of Tijuana, Mexico, and a resident of Madera since 1961, He started working as a child in the late 1930s, eventually becoming an auto mechanic. He married the love of his life, the former Rosa Salcido, in July 1956, After they moved to Madera he, at first, continued as a mechanic and then worked at farms and ranches in the area until he finally retired at age 85.

Manuel was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Rosa, one brother, and two sisters.

He is survived by his sister, Maria Elena Gutierrez of San Diego, CA; his daughter, Rosa “Vencho” Montoya Sullivan of Madera; grandchildren Ricardo DeLeon II of Kingsville, TX; and Stephanie DeLeon of Madera; and great-grandchildren, Angela Franco of Kingsville, TX; Ricardo DeLeon III of Kingsville, TX; and Mia Calderon of Madera.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at Jay Chapel in Madera. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11:00 am at Jay Chapel.
