Frances Katherine Radoicich, 93, of Madera, California passed away surrounded by loved ones on May 18, 2023.
Frances was born on November 1,1929 to Paul and Katherine Lucich in Clovis, California. Growing up on a small farm with four sisters and a brother there was always work and fun to be had. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1947, then went on to Fresno State College where she graduated with a Commerce Degree in 1951.
During and after her college years Frances worked as a bookkeeper and enjoyed several memorable travel adventures. Frances always made time for local dances and social events, where she met her future husband, Vernon Radoicich. They were married for 51 years, until Vernon’s passing in 2008.
Frances and Vernon truly enjoyed life together, raising four children and farming grapes and almonds near the San Joaquin River. She managed the farm’s finances and periodically taught children in Madera’s elementary schools. Frances was passionate about family, serving others, cooking, and gardening. She had a green thumb, with beautiful flower gardens and tasty home-grown vegetables that were part of many wonderful meals prepared for family and friends. For years Frances also enjoyed cooking for events at St. Peter the Apostle Serbian Orthodox Church.
Frances was predeceased by her husband Vernon and son Ron. She is survived by her brother Paul (Sue) Lucich, sisters Helen (Gary) Kearney, Marion Vranizan, Katherine Zupanovich, and Cecile McIntyre. Surviving children and spouses are Randy (Kelly), Fr. Russell (Sue), Marci (Bill) and Brigeen (Ron’s widow). Frances was a loving ‘Baba’ to her eight grandchildren, Beau, Paul, Jeffrey, Matthew, Mariana, Vesna, Katherine, and Rebecca.
A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday May 23, 2023, at 7 pm. The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 10 am. Both services will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Serbian Orthodox Church, with the interment at Belmont Memorial Park, following the Funeral.
