Mr Wallace Emmert

October 26, 1915 ~ June 15, 2017 (age 101) 101 Years Old

WALLACE ERNEST EMMERT

Wallace was born on October 26, 1915 to Charles Josiah and Ethel Wharff Emmert in Madera and passed away in Madera on June 15, 2017 at the age of 101 years. His early years were focused on family life and the family business of the Madera Irrigation and Canal Company. Through the years, he fondly recalled family wagon trips to Yosemite National Park, Soquel Meadow, and the mountains in general. He was a graduate of Madera Union High School in 1932 and worked for Thompson Equipment CO (TECO) for several years. Professing a love of flying airplanes, Wallace joined the Army Air Force during WWII and became a pilot of the B-17 long range bomber. This led him to the European war effort and his plane being shot down over Holland, where he was wounded and taken POW. Upon his return to Madera, he worked for the Irrigation Company before joining his brother Chuck in Emmert Brothers Farms. Wallace retired from farming in the 1970’s and thereafter enjoyed family, travel and the cabin in Sugar Pine.

Wallace is preceded by his parents, spouse Eleanor Anne, and siblings Keith, Francis, Corinne and Charles.

He is survived by his spouse Maxine Emmert, children: Wallace and Mary Lou Emmert, Joe and Kay Planimento, Patrick Emmert and Susan Waters, John and Margaret Ogle. His grandchildren include Cherise, Adam, John and Lana; great-grandchildren are Jason, Abernathy, Quinn, Abeenathy, John M. Ogle, Anthony Bursey, Kylie Bursey and sister-in-law Lou Emmert.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the kind service provided by Patsy and Angie and Hinds Hospice. Doctors Sekhon and Rajpal are acknowledged as wonderful friends of Wallace, as well as excellent physicians.
