Ronald “Ronnie” Baker, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. Ronnie was well known as a true cowboy. He worked for Will Gill and Sons Ranch for over 34 years, and loved every part of working on the ranch. Ronnie was named the “Cowboy of the Year for Madera County in 2001, and was very active in the Cattle industry. Ronnie loved fishing and hunting, but his true passion was in cowboying. Whether it was team roping, calf branding, or breaking horses, Ronnie was all about it and would never let an injury stop him from finishing the job. Ronnie gave of himself to others. Whenever someone needed help, Ronnie was always there to lend a hand. If someone needed to learn more about how to “cowboy”, he was there to help. Over the years, Ronnie mentored many young men, in the skills of working on a ranch.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his father Gilbert Baker. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 21 years Carla Baker of Madera, his two daughters Bailey Baker and Brooke Baker of Madera, his mother Rosario Baker of Coarsegold, and his two brothers Greg and his wife Diane Baker of Paso Robles and Larry and his wife Maria Baker and their son Dominic of San Diego, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be held on Sunday April 23rd, at the Gill Ranch at 1:00 PM.
