Naomi D. Tharp was born on December 28, 1930 in Fresno, California and a lifelong resident of Firebaugh, California. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 11, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno. Naomi was 86 years old.

She was a beloved, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Naomi was a homemaker and also worked as a cook and bilingual teacher’s aide for many years at Hazel M. Bailey Primary School in Firebaugh. When she was approached by former students Naomi always remembered them and was happy to see them.

After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, reading and her pets.

Naomi was preceded in death by her mother, Angela Salazar, her step-father, Miguel Salazar, her husband Arthur Loren Tharp and her son, Steven Michael Tharp.

She is survived by her siblings, Eugene Salazar, Linda Des Jardins, Christina Geary, Michael Salazar, and Ralph Salazar, her children, Robert Arthur Tharp and his wife Patricia of Firebaugh, and Carol Garrett and her husband Gerald of Dos Palos. She also leaves behind, eleven grandchildren, Jeannie, Melissa, Daniel, Mackenzie, Gregory, Christopher, Amy, Ashley, Jared, Nathan and Denise, and twenty great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Jay Chapel, Madera, California, with an interment to follow at Arbor Vitae Cemetery also in Madera.
