Tribute

Lugardo ”Lu”  Quirarte
May 7, 1973 – December 30, 2020
Lugardo Quirarte was the type of person who made you want to live every day to its fullest.  On December 30th, at 47 years young, Lu was in a car accident and made his journey home to rest with his Heavenly Father.
Lugardo was born to Juan and Maria Trinidad (Trina) Quirarte in Merced, CA and has lived in Atwater for 40+ years. He had a successful career in Real Estate for the past 9 years, most recently working with London Properties.  Lu was the epitome of a hard worker and was instrumental in assisting many first-time home buyers achieve the comfort and peace of a place to call their home.  In addition to his Real Estate responsibilities, in October 2017, Lu was also instrumental in starting up their family-owned business, TLC (a non-emergency medical transportation service). Lu played an active role in transporting individuals to their medical appointments and took this opportunity to brighten their day with conversation and laughter. Lugardo had strong Catholic values and walked his walk as an active member of St. Anthony’s Church in Atwater. Working out, cooking for his family and above all, family time (vacationing, boating, camping…) were Lu’s passions and how he enjoyed spending time.
Lugardo was blessed with an extremely close and loving family.  He married his best friend and love of his life, Carrie, on May 25, 1996.  Together they raised their two beautiful children in faith, joy, and love.  Cayden (19) and Talya (16) looked up to their father like a superhero.  He was their protector, their biggest cheerleader and their voice of reason.  It was evident to all that knew him, Lu’s pride and joy was his family and his compassion and unconditional love never faltered.
Lugardo is survived by his wife, Carrie; his children Cayden and Talya; his brother Juan (Moniz) Quirarte (Rosie); Sisters Lorena Hernandez (Juan) and Nubia Fernandez (Nick).  He was often called Uncle Gardo or Babo by his loving Nieces and Nephews, Adrian, Noelle, Junior, Christian, Cruzelly, Nickie and Nable.
Lugardo will be remembered fondly for his outgoing personality, infectious laughter, bright smile and profound love for his family and friends.  He was truly a man full of life and his spirit will continue to forever bless all those who knew him.
