Hermelinda B. Giorge, age 49 passed away surrounded by her family at her Madera California home in the early hours of Saturday, January 13, 2018. Hermelinda was born in Colima Mexico to Enrique Barboza and Carmen Nazarit Barboza. She and her family later immigrated to the United States of America where she has resided in Madera for the past 4 years and prior to that in the cities of Atwater, Los Banos, and San Martin , California.  Hermelinda was a homemaker and attended St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera.

Hermelinda “Mela” enjoyed traveling to Mexico along with her husband to visit family members. She was a very strong faith base person. Mela gave to others without expecting anything in return. She had a big heart as she enjoyed spending time with those around her. Mela was a very creative and talented woman.  Mela overcame fear in order to find the courage to have a second opportunity in life.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Jose of Madera, California, her parents Enrique and Carmen Barboza of Pomona, California, and by her siblings; Elias Barboza and his wife Micaela of Hesperia, California , Enrique of Washington, Eduardo Barboza and his wife Rosalva of Pomona, CA, Eliceo Barboza and his wife Asucion of Rialto, CA, Ceclia Barboza and Elva Barboza both of Colima, Mexico. Also surviving Hermelinda are many extended family members.

Recitation of the Rosary will be on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 7 PM at Jay Chapel in Madera. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church, in Madera. Fr. Gustavo Lopez O.S.J. will be the celebrant.

Services will conclude at St. Joachim’s Church. Inurnment will be in Colima, Mexico at a later date.
