Helen (Elena) Tavares 96, who was born in Fowler, California on Dec. 25, 1920 passed away on Oct. 17, 2017. Resident of San Jose, California for 60 years she will be laid to rest in Madera, California she considered her home town.

She was a woman of many talents including gardener, seamstress, and an expert in Mexican cuisine. She was also a mother and consoler to many family members who will miss her spirit and guidance. From her children, she was our inspiration and our strength.

She leaves behind four children, Maria Tavares, Annette Aguilar, and John Gabriel Tavares all of San Jose and Antonio Tavares of Colorado. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings, Tillie Gonzales, Louie Aldama, Delia Aldama all of Madera and Jennie Aldama of San Jose.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera with interment following in Calvary Cemetery.
