Ana Maria (Nito) Arroyo Gutierrez, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, has passed away to her heavenly reward to be with our Lord. Our mother was born on November 9, 1931, in Churintzio, Michoacan de Ocampo Mexico, to her late parents Jose Refugio Vargas Arroyo, and Agapita Mena Ramirez. Mom gently passed away on Sunday, on a sunny and bright morning on January 10, 2021 in Clovis California, in a nursing care facility for a short time. Mom attended primary school until the 6th grade in her hometown of Churintzio, Michoacan de Ocampo Mexico, where it was customary to have a comprehensive education. She completed her secondary education by completing courses in business and as a seamstress. Mom came to Madera as a newly wedded bride in June of 1956. Mom was a parishioner of St. Joachim’s Catholic Parish since she made her new home here in Madera with our dad on Fresno St. She was a member of Young Ladies Institute at the parish. Mom was widely known in Madera and surrounding area, for her talent and gift in sewing, clothing and alterations for 50 years. She knitted, crocheted, tailored, embroidered, and enjoyed meeting her clientele. Mom sewed items for cheerleaders for Pop Warner to high school, charros, made suits, wedding gowns, and her talent knew no bounds. Mom was known to be a prolific gardener and especially loved roses, most noted at the ranch. One of mom’s life accomplishment was to became a U.S. citizen in 1978, and was sworn in Fresno California. Mom took great pride that her five children attended and were promoted from St. Joachim’s Parochial School. 4 of her children advanced to graduate from California State University, Fresno. As a devoted parishioner, she placed in high value to religious studies and the academics. As a fond early memory, in the mornings, mom would listen to the news in Spanish as she sewed is one of the fondest memories of mom. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Adolfo, son Arthur, her sisters Lilia, Carmalita (aged 2), Veronica Arroyo Heredia and stepmother Carmen Soria Arroyo. Mom is survived in loving memory by her 4 children, Hector A. Gutierrez and Linda S. of Madera, Patricia Gutierrez of Madera, Michael Gutierrez and Adela of Fresno California, and Cynthia Gutierrez Lopez and Gilbert of Sacramento, California. As a grandmother, mom is survived by grandchildren, Renee, Estevan, Laurel, Isaac, Brittany, Brooke, Stefanie, Samuel, Julianna, and Matthew. Mom was also a great grandmother to Karmelo White, Khaleesi Ana Maria White and Koralynn White. Our beloved mother is survived by her sisters Soledad Arroyo Pulido of Livingston California, Maria Arroyo Calderon and Edeberto of Aliso Viejo, California, Evagelina Soria Arroyo of Santana, California, Adelida Soria Arroyo, Lourdes Soria Arroyo, Leticia Soria Arroyo, and Carmen Soria Arroyo of Churintzio, Michoacan, Mexico, and her 2 brothers Benjamin Ramirez Arroyo of San Pablo California, Guillermo Soria Arroyo of Churintzio, Michoacan, Mexico. Our mother will be missed greatly and leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 12:30 p.m. on January 22, 2021 at St. Joachim’s Catholic church, 401 West 5th St. Madera California. Followed by the Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m., then followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery at 28447 Ave 14 Madera California, 93638. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Joachim’s School, 310 N. “I” St Madera California. You may make also donations to your favorite charity in Ana Maria’s name.
