Alta Morgan, age 95, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 in Madera, CA. Alta was born in Dry Creek, Texas, and was a resident of both Chowchilla and most recently Madera for the past 78 years. Alta was a good Christian woman, and was known by many in town. Alta worked as a waitress for over 40 years at numerous restaurants that have come and gone, including Lucas, Fruit Basket, and Farnesi’s to name a few. Alta met the love of her life, Rea Morgan, in 1962 at the Brenda Ranch Restaurant. In 1964, Alta and Rea started growing Almonds and became members of the Blue Diamond Almond Growers.

Alta is preceded in death by her parents Solomon and Lela (Swanner) Allen, her husband Rea Morgan, her daughter Linda Gail Mitchell, as well as 6 brothers and 6 sisters.
Alta is survived by her daughter Sheila Gokey and her husband Ray Hawkins of San Jose, her two granddaughters Crystal Hawkins and Samantha Hawkins both of San Jose, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Donations can be made in Alta’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 30th, 2017 from 2:00 PM- 8:00 PM at Jay Chapel, Madera, Ca.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Jay Chapel, Madera, Ca. Interment immediately following at Arbor Vitae Cemetery.
